Sound Therapy Making Waves…
Several articles have come out in the last couple of years reporting a relationship between sound waves and experimental cancer treatment. Natural News released an article written by Earl Garcia in March of 2017 titled “Scientists have discovered a way to destroy cancer tumors using nothing but sound waves”. This article highlights high-intensity focused ultrasound therapy (HIFU) technology and its treatment of prostate cancer. According to the article, this technology shows promise as a non-invasive treatment when “researchers at the University College Hospital in London examined 625 men with prostate cancer and found that 93 percent of patients who underwent HIFU alone remained cancer-free at five years following the treatment, without requiring surgery or radiotherapy.” The article mentions another relatively non-invasive sound wave innovation, “nanodroplets”.
What are ‘nanodroplets’?
The online publication Science Daily released an article in December of 2016 on a study done by the University of Alberta Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry on nanodroplets. “The researchers used the technique on tumors to cause extracellular vesicles to be released into the bloodstream, giving them large amounts of genetic material to analyze from drawing just a small sample of blood. They believe it could be a less-invasive alternative to a biopsy for cancer diagnostics.”
Another technique using sound waves to treat cancer is called histotripsy. A Natural News article released in February of 2016 details histotripsy. “Studies have shown that histotripsy can totally liquefy tumors and can do so with remarkable precision and minimal impact on healthy surrounding tissue.”
